The Royal Opera House’s Paul Hamlyn Hall has been given a timber facelift with the installation of an oiled solid oak floor.
Flooring specialist British Harlequin plc laid the 650m² floor, which is supported by a foundation of softwood battens covered in a layer of flexible boards, in the venue.
The oak was glued and secret nailed to the supporting layers, which themselves rest on a series of special cradles designed to secure the battens and support the whole floor.
British Harelquin has also recently completed the installation of new dance floors in a number of Royal Ballet studios within the Royal Opera House, which feature a basketweave configuration consisting of three layers of softwood battens overlayed with MDF and a top layer of the company’s specially designed vinyl Cascade dance surface.
