A unique timber house, 30ft high to the apex, is being constructed in south Leicestershire.

The owner has been renovating and extending an existing bungalow since 1994 and a variety of local and imported timber has been specified.

The main portal structure is a laminated timber design, with the portals manufactured in the Netherlands and transported to site.

English oak was chosen for other areas of the house, including internal and external balconies, western red cedar was used for the internal and external cladding, the underside of the roof and the construction of a sunroom.

To protect the wood, Akzo Nobel Woodcare supplied its Cetol HLS and Filter 7 woodstain system for the frame and extensive cladding detail.
