Timber remains the top general cargo at Latvian ports, with 4.6 million tonnes handled in the first nine months of 2002.
Timber throughput dropped by 0.4% compared with the same period in 2001 but remains steady, whereas large drops were recorded in handling of oil and related products.
Overall cargo turnover at Latvian ports fell by 9% to 40.17 million tonnes.
