Timber frame house extensions are providing an answer for homeowners wanting more living space in densely populated areas of the south-east.

London-based Express Extensions is targeting south London, north Kent and north Surrey with its single-storey home extensions, which are designed to be used at terraced properties or homes where access is difficult.

The company has entered into a partnership with Caldicott-based timber frame manufacturer Benfield ATT, which manufactures the engineered timer frame panel kits.

Kits are delivered, erected and clad with tiles, bricks or render to match the existing property.

Express Extensions managing director Christopher Smith said the company’s experience as consultants and designers/builders meant it had a good understanding of the planning system in the region.

Timber promotional campaign wood. for good supports the movement towards using timber frame for home extensions.

Wood for good managing director Charles Trevor said: “Using timber frame for small-scale home extensions such as these is good for the environment not least because a timber frame building contains almost twice as much wood as other housebuilding methods.”
