A Wiltshire timber yard owner aims to fill the gap created by the closure of his village post office and shop by offering a service inside a log cabin on his premises.
John Dunford has applied to Kennet District Council to build the cabin at Honeystreet Sawmills, Alton Barnes, and hopes to obtain £50,000 funding through a Regional Development Agency grant.
He intends a village consortium to run the business, while half the cabin would be used as an office for the sawmill.
