TRADA has released details of seminar topics to be covered in Interbuild’s Timber Zone.

TRADA experts will talk on subjects including, “Green Guide explained”, “Timber in older buildings”, “Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) explained”, “CSH and timber frame”, “Building with green oak”, “Timber Olympic stadia – the engineer’s view”, “The secrets of timber frame’s success” and “Innovation in wood”. Seminars were a big success at last year’s event, attracting more than 600 visitors over the five days. A bigger seminar theatre is planned this time, while guided tours are being introduced by TRADA around the Timber Zone.

“Very successful tours were offered in the off-site construction zone in 2006 and there was a definite interest in a similar option in the Timber Zone,” said TRADA marketing manager Karen Tipping.

The exhibition part of the Timber Zone has almost sold out (42 exhibitors with only two stands left). The zone is set to be expanded into an adjacent area where several timber companies have already booked and where there is exhibition space still available.

Interbuild, which takes place on October 28-November 1 at Birmingham NEC, is nearing capacity with 93% of stand space sold out and more than 800 exhibitors confirmed.

Show organisers said the return of United Merchants’ Unimer Showcase had spurred a massive response in Hall 5’s Structural Building section, with B&Q back on board and Kingspan’s involvment including subsidiary Potton.
