Trade between Russia and China soared in the first five months of this year compared to the same period in 2001.
Russian exports to China, which include timber, rose by more than 18%, with Chinese imports reaching 26.8% – a growth of 20.6% topping US$4.5bn.
The two countries are planning further collaboration in various industry sectors, including timber.
Russian prime minister Mikhail Kasyanov said preferences in this field should be given to companies with good reputations that would not only supply timber but also restore timber resources.
