An international workshop will discuss opportunities for increasing the effectiveness of transboundary conservation areas in tropical forests.

IUCN – The World Conservation Union and the International Tropical Timber Organisation are inviting people with experience and knowledge on protected area issues to the event in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, on February 12-21, 2003.

IUCN says where borders between countries bisect tropical forest, transboundary conservation programmes can help biodiversity conservation while supporting regional integration and economic development.

The workshop, which will contribute to IUCN’s World Parks Congress, aims to raise the profile of the concept and evaluate bottlenecks to political support.
