A partnership agreement between builders merchant giant Travis Perkins plc and Northampton Borough Council will result in the company receiving a consistent health and safety advice service throughout the country.

Travis Perkins, which aims to continue improving health and safety management systems, will use the council for expert guidance to ensure all its premises follow corporate standards.

Other local authorities looking at health and safety issues in the company will use the council as a single point of contact for information and advice on standards, plus support on policy and procedural issues.

Frank McKay, chief executive of Travis Perkins, said: “We welcome this partnership as a significant step to help us build on the health and safety progress already made across the group.”
