The Brussels-based body represents an industry with a combined turnover of €204bn and which employs 2.1 million people across the 27 EU countries. Its primary goal is to shape EU policy-making in the industry’s interests.
“It is the sector’s most influential European voice, and it’s best resourced,” said Mr White. “It engages with the EU on a broad range of topics, and very much encompasses the increasing customer focused strategies that we have been developing at the TTF.”
The organisation is also focused on technical and environmental issues that chimed with the activities of the UK organisation, including provision of key data to customers on timber performance through LCA, and carbon information, he said.
“They are also increasingly engaged, as we are, in actively communicating and promoting the multiple benefits of timber to construction,” said Mr White.
“It’s going to be a mutually beneficial experience, I believe, learning more from the wider European experience, benefiting from CEI Bois’s powerful voice in Europe, and sharing our knowledge and experience more with our European partners.”
