The scheme, due to launch in the autumn, is designed to enable Green Deal providers to offer energy efficiency improvements to homes and businesses to be paid for by loans.

The TTF said this its manufacturing and distributing members may see an increase in certain product sales, such as wood fibreboard insulation.

"As the central rationale of the Green Deal is to reduce carbon emissions in the most cost-effective way, timber and timber-based products will offer opportunities to do this and increase the energy performance of buildings," it said

In addition to the general supply of materials in compliance with the scheme’s requirements, the TTF suggests partnership with a registered Green Deal installer to supply approved products.

"A good example may be a wall insulation system consisting of sheet panels on the face with insulation on the inside."

The federation said although it was early days, now was the time for companies to begin to investigate the potential opportunities offered by the scheme.
