The European Producers of Laminate Flooring (EPLF) described the move as a “displeasing Christmas surprise” for German producers of laminate flooring. The German laminate floor industry has only until January 24 to submit evidence, which the EPLF says is not enough time especially as companies were closed over the Christmas holidays.

The organisation is asking the Turkish Ministry of Economy for a deadline extension to give the industry more time to respond.

“In the interest of a free flow of trade inside Europe we will do everything possible in the legal framework to prevent the emerging of new, inadequate trade barriers, even with Turkey not yet being a member of the European Union,” said EPLF managing director Peter H Meyer.

“Simultaneously, we have to keep in mind the interests of our Turkish members and the increasing importance of Turkey as a sales market. We hope that no objective evidence of price dumping will become evident.”
