Timber imports to the United Arab Emirates are forecast to exceed US$500m this year compared with US$471.4m in 2001.
Furniture was the biggest import in 2001 – standing at US$220.9m – with the main exporters being Italy, Malaysia, South Korea and China.
Plywood represented US$99.1m, sawn timber US$80.5m and fireboard US$32.2m in 2001.
