Comprehensive training packages for sales, technical and site personnel in the timber frame industry have been launched in a drive to raise standards in the sector.
The UK Timber Frame Association‘s (UKTFA) total training solution, available on CD, is intended to raise design and workmanship standards, plus ensure sales teams are fully informed on all the benefits offered by timber frame.
The sales package aims to help staff dealing with either builders/developers or customers/homeowners to communicate the attributes of timber frame which are relevant to each group. It helps staff to discuss flexibility of design, fast build times, reduced overall costs, precision quality and sustainability.
Technical training material looks at design and detailing, covering factors which affect the quality of a finished timber frame building, including fire and acoustic design, differential movement and on-site accuracy.
The site-based training package highlights the importance of high workmanship standards and attention to detail with foundations, delivery and storage, scaffolding, health and safety and frame erection.
UKTFA chief executive Bryan Woodley said it was important that the increasing number of companies moving away from masonry to timber frame had access to key information on the design, erection and sale of timber frame buildings.
