UPM Tilhill now has dual certification for the management of 170,000ha of UK forest after achieving PEFC accreditation.
The company has had FSC certification since 2000.
“We have had a number of buyers of timber and other forest products looking for PEFC-certified timber from UK forests and this move anticipates what I believe will be an increasing demand,” said forestry director George McRobbie.
Both schemes use the UK Woodland Assurance Scheme as the basis for certification in the UK.
