The Finnish company has put UPM Aigrefeuille, a planing mill in western France, up for sale. The deal includes a related sales operation near La Rochelle.

Operations at the mill will continue during the sales process, and UPM said its goal was to find a buyer that would continue production.

UPM Aigrefeuille, which was acquired in 1999, produces interior and exterior panels for the construction industry and employs 45 people. Annual capacity is 45,000m3. It absorbed the operations of the Boulogne further processing mill, which was closed in 2009.

UPM said the sale was part of the company’s sell-off plans to concentrate on developing sawmills closely integrated with its pulp and paper mills. Last year timber operations continued to make losses although a modernised Savonlinna has since come on line.
