The first five months of 2007 saw exports reach US$937m according to the association, making Vietnam one of the top four wood product exporters in south-east Asia, alongside Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
VTFPA has said that this growth, which comes after ViForest announced plans to see timber exports from Vietnam double in three years, is due to the greater number of value added products and design orientated goods being manufactured in the country.
