Demand from Asia for woodchips is likely to keep Western Australia’s timber industry buoyant for at least another five years according to a report from the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics.
The report revealed that Australia’s woodchip export earnings increased by 8% in the past year to a record A$860.
However, the Forest Industries Federation has warned that industry growth is likely to plateau unless more land is made available for plantation development.
