County Tyrone-based Western Building Systems, whose business includes timber frame systems for residential markets, has completed the latest phase of a £4m headquarters expansion.

The new 6,000ft² expansion incorporates offices, staff areas, a showroom and production facilities and effectively doubles the company’s existing capacity and centralises all operations on one site.

Western has developed new production facilities for its park homes division and a newly-acquired timber frame company, as well as a windows and furniture centre.

“The market has been extremely tough in the last year especially, but I get the real feeling that we’ve turned the corner,” said director Martin McCloskey.

He said the company’s diversification into new sectors and investment in the headquarters meant it could be more responsive to fresh opportunities.
