Entries have opened for The Wood Awards 2007, the event that highlights wood in buildings and furniture.
The competition, now in its fifth year, judges the design, production, installation or commissioning of joinery, wood structures and furniture, and is sponsored by more than 20 top names in the industry, led by The American Hardwood Export Council, the Carpenters’ Company, the Forestry Commission and wood for good.
A spokesman said: “These awards can bring true recognition to professionals working successfully with wood. With the permission from the owner of qualifying projects, anyone associated with a building or furniture project – from the timber supplier to the designer – can enter.
“With categories and special awards covering nearly ever type and size of project in construction, joinery and furniture, the compact and bijou are as likely to win as the grand design.”
Qualifying projects must be completed between May 2006 and May 2007. The categories are: Commercial and public access, private, structural, conservation/restoration and furniture. Additional awards may also be made at the discretion of the judges for a small project, innovation or best use of British timber irrespective of category, as well as offsite manufactured project.
The shortlist will be announced and exhibited at 100% Detail at Earls Court in September, and the winners will be announced at an awards evening at Carpenters’ Hall, in London, in October.
