Established in 1971, the Wood Awards is the UK’s premier competition for excellence in architecture and product design in the world’s only naturally sustainable material.

The Awards are free to enter and aim to encourage and promote outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation using wood. For a full list of the shortlisted entries see here.

Among the commercial and leisure sector entries are a whisky distillery, swimming pool and a studio. In the education and public sector, finalists include the Royal Academy of Music Theatre and new recital hall and Streatham & Clapham High School.

The interiors category sees several residential properties listed, as well as The Department Store, Brixton and the timber entrance to Bloomberg’s new London offices called The Vortex.

The private category sees homes in London, Sevenoaks and North Yorkshire listed, while Small Project includes an extension, wilderness cabin and pavilion as finalists.

The shortlist will be showcased at the London Design Fair, Old Truman Brewery, on September 20-23. Winners will be revealed at the annual Wood Awards ceremony at Carpenters’ Hall on November 20.
