A seminar detailing the commercial opportunities for wood plastic composites in the construction industry will take place at West Hall Park, Dundee on January 21.

Organised by the Scottish Forest Industries Cluster in partnership with Scottish Enterprise, the seminar will draw on international experience while focusing on UK markets.

The organisers say environmental pressures are driving the demand for new materials that are sustainable and perform better than current alternatives. Eco-composites, particularly those based on wood fibre, have developed and are beginning to attract huge interest in many areas of the building industry.

New markets for wood plastic composite materials include windows, doors, roof tiles, cladding and furniture components.

Key players in the industry will give presentations and an exhibition will allow delegates to gain hands-on experience of the products and their potential opportunities.
