A ‘marriage service’ launched by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) will help link wood recycling businesses with necessary funding.

The Business Development Service was unveiled in London on January 25. It recognises that recycling companies are often perceived as unattractive by financiers due to lack of market information and because they offer longer term returns compared to other sectors.

The service will support companies, particularly small and medium sized, by giving advice, formulating investment proposals and identifying best sources of capital. Meanwhile financiers will be made aware of the opportunities in backing green ventures.

Dr Alistair Keddie, the DTI‘s director of environment and innovation services, said at the launch: ‘Unless we can build confidence in recycled materials we will not be able to succeed in getting more materials recycled.’
