Organiser Business International srl says the number of companies requesting more exhibtion space than 2006 is also growing strongly. This will mean extra space being made available for the next ZOW fair, which takes place on October 17-20 in Milan.

Business International said the positive mood for the next show mirrors a 2006 which closed on an upbeat note for the Italian wood/furniture sector.

COSMIT/Federlegno Arredo (the Italian federation of wood, furniture, cork and furnishing industries) recently released 2006 figures showing a 4.5% growth in exports. Timber and wood products were the most dynamic segment in the sector, with a turnover of €15.1bn, a 3.1% growth on 2005.

Exports in the segment also grew by 9.7% and imports also increased, reaching €4.3bn, showing Italy’s strong dependence on wood raw materials.
