Accoya furthers its UK market growth

Accoya, the modified wood product supplied exclusively to the UK by BSW Timber, has continued its market development with two projects in the south.

Window and door manufacturer Dempsey Dyer has announced it will now produce all its softwood doors from Accoya, after successful use at a 19-property townhouse project in Purfleet, for Bellway Homes. Doorsets and window sashes were manufactured from Accoya for the development.

“Following the outstanding success of Accoya for Bellway, it is clear that this modified wood will become the material of choice for exterior applications,” said Dempsey Dyer’s Tom Dyer.

Accoya has also been used by Westgate Joinery to produce windows and doors at a £1m home in Lewes, East Sussex.

The four-bed property saw 2.7m³ of Accoya used in casement windows, lift and slide balcony doors and entrance screens.

“Accoya was an obvious choice for this project with its superior levels of performance, stability and durability allowing for greater flexibility and reducing the wood’s tendency to swell or shrink,” said David Pattenden of Westgate Joinery.

The first commercial use of Accoya cladding has also been unveiled in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, with 40m³ of the material planed and edge-laminated to panels for the GoGo Tours office building.
