Accoya in new international distribution deal

Accsys Technologies, manufacturer of modified softwood Accoya, has signed a new exclusive distribution deal for Spain, Portugal and Morrocco with Spanish importer Primawood.

Accsys chief executive officer Paul Clegg said that Primawood’s “proven track record and extensive experience in the chemical industry and technical distribution” gave it the “tools to take Accoya to market in these countries".

“We’re thrilled about the partnership,” he said. “They have a widespread knowledge of the market which will be fundamental in our joint success in the Spanish, Portuguese and Moroccan territories."

Accoya is made by acetylating softwood, which increases the amount of acetyl molecules in the wood, changing its physical properties. This protects the timber from rot and attack by micro organisms and reduces wood movement and cracking, so it requires less maintenance when painted.

“We are extremely excited by this opportunity to distribute such a high quality timber,” said Primawood director Loreto Burés. “It is a premium product that outperforms traditional timbers. It is also well suited to the Mediterranean climate, making it an ideal material for outdoor use such as windows, doors and cladding.”
