Accsys appoints Accoya distributor in NZ

29 September 2010

Accsys Technologies, the manufacturer of modified wood Accoya, has appointed timber importer Timspec as the exclusive distributor for its products in New Zealand.

Timspec said it was looking forward to adding Accoya its range of timbers.

The product is considered suitable for use in the New Zealand timber market where there is growing demand for timber cladding and hardwood decking.

A recent report from Scion Research (the NZ Forest Research Institute) is supportive of the durability of Accoya as long-term tests show Accoya is more resistant to decay than wood treated with CCA and is more durable than teak, merbau (kwila) and western red cedar.

Timspec was established in 1990 as a wholesaler of specialty timbers. The company imports, exports and wholesales a large range of timbers to joiners, furniture manufacturers, and builders merchants.

Timbers stocked include species from North America, South America, Europe, Africa, South-east Asia, Australia, and New Zealand's exotic and indigenous species. Timspec was the first major timber importer in NZ to be FSC and PEFC chain of custody certified.
