Architect to talk at timber conference

11 November 2008

Matt Hoad, director of zero carbon design champion ZEDfactory, is to be guest speaker at the Saint-Gobain Building Distribution Timber Group conference.

The conference, at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on November 26, will focus on the role of timber in sustainable construction.

Around 120 delegates from within the group, including representatives from Pasquill Roof Trusses, RK Timber Engineering, International Timber and Jewson Internal Timber Supply, as well as key supply chain partners such as BSW Timber, MiTek, UPM-Kymmene and Setra, are expected to attend.

“ZEDfactory is leading the way in zero carbon design and development, and has played an active role in championing the use of modern methods of construction and engineered timber products,” said Steve Rogers, product and market director at International Timber.

“Projects such as the ruralZED housing and construction system, which featured International Timber’s Stellac Thermowood cladding and has been designed to achieve Level 6 under the Code for Sustainable Homes criteria, clearly demonstrate the results that can be achieved by using more sustainable construction materials such as timber.”

ZEDfactory’s eco show home, displayed at this year’s Ecobuild in London, is currently being rebuilt in Dunkirk, France.
