Asian countries embark on joint rubberwood promotion

Malaysia and Thailand are to embark on joint promotion of rubberwood, according to the latest market report of the International Tropical Timber Organisation.

The two countries will share information about regional and international markets for rubberwood products.

The Malaysia-Thailand Parawood Committee was established following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Malaysian Timber Council, Malaysian Timber Industry Board, Malaysian Furniture Promotion Council, Thai Parawood Association and Wood Processing Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries.

Malaysia has about 1 million ha of rubberwood plantations, while Thailand has 2.6 million ha.
