Blueprint launched

14 December 2007

A blueprint to boost efficiency in the Scottish timber industry has been launched.

The government-backed Timber Development Programme, costing £1m, will deliver “60 actions” over the next three years through a series of partnerships between the forestry and research sectors.

The aim is to encourage more use of timber and wood products, promote stable supply, encourage improvements in growing stock and bring about efficiencies in the timber supply chain.

An industry-led steering group to assist Forestry Commission Scotland in delivering the programme will be chaired by John Kissock.

A book New Timber Architecture of Scotland by Peter Wilson was launched at the same time.
