Bradfords expands with purchase of two Burdens depots

27 November 2012

Independent merchanting group Bradfords has acquired two depots from Burdens, boosting total branch numbers to 29.

The purchase follows a restructuring at Burdens, which has so far seen about half the business and the Burdens trading name sold to Wolseley. The two depots will now trade as Bradfords Building Supplies Ltd.

“This acquisition is in line with our strategy to add branches within our geographical trading area, and I am very excited about the opportunities the deal creates,” said Dennis Smith, managing director of Bradfords Building Supplies.

More branch sales or restructuring is facing the rest of the Burdens group, which includes more than a dozen remaining Burdens branches and the group’s Kent-based Ecomerchant business, which sells several wood-based products.
