Brash gets Benchmark approval

12 December 2013

John Brash has received Wood Protection Association (WPA) Benchmark accreditation for fire treatment.

The Gainsborough-based manufacturer’s Benchmark FR certificate covers solid timber treated with Osmose FirePro humidity-resistant fire retardant in accordance with the reaction to fire Class C or Class B.

The company is a big supplier of scaffold boards for construction, the oil and gas industries and London Underground. It emphasised the importance of correct scaffold board specification and product quality, with its JB Firesafe scaffold board product designed for use in high-risk fire sensitive applications.

“This is an important certification for us,” said Christian Brash, chairman of John Brash. “We’ve heavily invested in our treatment plant to deliver a quality service within exceptional lead times to our customers.”

Mr Brash said Benchmark accreditation sat well with its approvals by the kitemark scheme and London Underground.

The WPA said two other UK treaters have Benchmark FR accreditation, including fire retardant treatment of scaffold boards.
