Brazil's sawn wood exports fall

Brazil’s exports of tropical sawn timber declined 18.4% to 323,400m³ during the first nine months of 2011, according to the latest market report of the International Tropical Timber Organisation.

The reduction represented a fall in value of 12.2% to US$167.9m.

The top five export destinations were Vietnam, the Netherlands, China, France and India, together accounting for 67% of the volume and 58% of the value of exports.

Tropical plywood exports fell 20% in volumes and 25% in value terms during the period. Shipments totalled 58,600m³ worth US$35.3m.
