Brazilian certification scheme submitted for PEFC endorsement

3 September 2010

The Brazilian Forest Certification Programme has submitted its revised system for PEFC endorsement.

The Cerflor national scheme, which includes the forest management standards for native and plantation forests, is open for comment by stakeholders until October 30.

Cerflor, a voluntary programme, includes representatives from producers, consumers, governments, NGOs and other organisations. It was originally endorsed by PEFC in October 2005.

The Brazilian government has supported the development of a national forest certification programme.
