Brazilian exports grow

The value of Brazilian timber exports increased by 30% in March to US$255m compared to a year earlier, with tropical sawnwood volumes rising by 7,000m³, according to the latest market report of the International Tropical Timber Organisation.

The value of exports in March was also 38% up on the previous month.

Tropical sawnwood exports rose to 50,800m³ in March and were worth US$25m. Pine sawnwood export volumes reduced by 7%, while their value increased by 1%.

Pine plywood shipments gained 32% in value to US$33m, though volumes were down 2% to 98,200m³.

Tropical plywood exports volume rose 14.5% to 9,500m³, and by 38% in value.
