Brisk Dubai Wood Show

30 April 2010

Business at the Dubai Wood Show from April 13-15 was described as brisk, with the event attracting 4,000 visitors.

The exhibition featured around 150 exhibitors from 40 countries, presenting lumber, veneer, wood components and associated products.

There were national groups of exhibitors from France, Germany, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, India and Singapore, with the largest representation from the UAE.

Local importers and distributors of wood and construction materials also put on major displays, reflecting, said the organisers the confidence and resilience of the Gulf timber market and strong regional interest in wood.

The event also included presentations and seminars, with The American Hardwood Export Council as official knowledge partner for the various events.

Speakers included international grading consultant Bob Sabistina from China, director of Forest Industries Intelligence Rupert Oliver from the UK, Canadian consultant Michael Pfeifer and Malaysian Timber Council director in Dubai Khairui Anwar.
