BSW chairman retires

25 March 2009

Sandy Brownlie has retired as chairman of Britain’s biggest sawmiller BSW Timber.

Martin Gale, already a non-executive director of BSW Timber, has been appointed as the company’s new chairman from April 2009.

Chief executive of BSW Timber Tony Hackney thanked Mr Brownlie for his total commitment to the successful development of the company.

“Sandy joined the company in 1956 and has been at the helm since the mid-1970s, during which he has seen major change in the markets and technology,” said Mr Hackney.

“On behalf of everyone at BSW Timber, I wish him a long and very happy retirement.”

Mr Brownlie will continue to play an active part in the company as a non-executive director.
