BSW expands low-pressure timber treatment capacity

7 August 2010

The installation of an additional treatment tank at BSW Timber’s Fort William site will increase treatment capacity of its added-value C16 strength graded Easi-Edge timber.

The low-pressure treatment tank, a further step in the phased investment programme at the site, doubles the group’s annual low-pressure treatment facilities for builder’s merchants working directly with the timber frame and RMI markets.

The addition to the site follows the installation of the first low-pressure treatment tank at the company’s Boat of Garten site during 2009, which trebled treatment production capacity at the time.

“This investment at Fort William demonstrates our commitment and ambitions, and echoes the investments made at our other sites throughout the UK,” said Alan Wheat, director of sales and marketing of BSW Timber.

“We have confidence in the market and are preparing our mills to meet an increase in demand, perform more efficiently and give customers the highest levels of service and quality of product.”

The water-based Osmose Clear Choice treatment helps offers a distinctive golden yellow colour preservative timber treatment.

“Low-pressure treatment tanks are perfect for timber frame construction and are an ideal treatment for the high studs and joists that BSW produces.”
