14 August 2023

BSW Group has announced the restructure of its senior management team, as it looks spearhead its growth and integration plans for the coming years.

There are several new appointments to the team following recent acquisitions by BSW, as well individuals moving into new positions and retiring from the business.

Longstanding CEO, Tony Hackney – who has been in post since 2008 – moves into the newly created role of UK chairman. Mr Hackney’s new role will see him stepping away from the day-to-day operations to focus on the strategic growth of the business.

Following the sale of BSW Group to Binderholz, Gebhard Du¨nser has joined the board as chief operating officer, working alongside BSW Group’s existing chief financial officer, Alan Milne.

Further additions to the operations board include Scott Grant, managing director – pallets (manufactured); Kevin McNeilly, managing director – pallets (reconditioned); and Robert Maclean, group general counsel. All of these appointments previously held senior positions at Scott Group, which was acquired by BSW Group in December 2022.

Norman Scott, meanwhile, has stepped down from his role leading the Scott Group, having overseen tremendous growth at the business over 30 years. He now makes the transition into his other interests and retirement from the pallet sector.

Tracy Trotter, who had been at Scott Group for over 20 years and played an instrumental part in its success, also left her group finance director role on July 31, 2023.

Finally, Gavin Adkins, managing director of Tilhill and Maelor Forest Nurseries, has also left BSW Group. Over his 10 years at the business, Mr Adkins played a significant role during the numerous acquisitions and the sale to Endless LLP, and then on to Binderholz.

In full, the BSW operations boards is as follows: Alan Milne, chief financial officer; Gebhard Dünser, chief operating officer; Harry Stevens, forestry director; Mike Lomas, operations director; Mike Faulkner, commercial director; Scott Grant, managing director – pallets (manufactured); Kevin McNeilly, managing director – pallets (reconditioned); Robert Maclean, group general counsel; and Adrian Tarrant, HR director.

“The changes to the senior management team have been made to support the strategy of integrating the UK operations, whilst aligning us with our parent company and facilitating improved communications and decision making across the global Binderholz Group,” said Tony Hackney.

“For many, this reorganisation generates very little change to their day-to-day activity, but for others there is additional responsibility and fresh challenges, as we look further cement our market-leading position within the forestry and timber sectors.

“We do say goodbye to some much-valued colleagues, who have played significant roles in the growth of both BSW and respected companies within the Group. We’d like to wish them well in the next stages of either their careers or retirement.”
