BSW Timber ships to China

7 March 2013

BSW Timber has further expanded its overseas shipments with a 5,000m3 supply deal with timber distributors from Kuwait, Dubai and China.

The shipment, comprising kiln-dried easi-edge sawn timber in 100 containers, will be dispatched this month.

The deal is part of a continuing export programme by the group's Dalbeattie, Fort William and Newbridge-on-Wye mills, which have so far shipped 35,000m3 of sawn timber - 675 containers - including a major consignment to Alexandria, Egypt in late 2012.

"We are seeing increased demand from international markets for home-grown sawn timber - especially in central Europe, the Middle East and China," said Ian Murchie, mill manager at Dalbeattie.

"Our considerable investment programme in the site here in Dalbeattie means we are well placed to meet this demand, and look forward to announcing further export deals in the near future."
