BSW Timber supports Scottish Paralympic hopeful

Scottish Borders athlete Sammi Kinghorn is a step closer to her dream of competing in the 2016 Paralympic games thanks to a four year sponsorship commitment from Earlston-based BSW Timber.

The 17-year-old, who recently qualified for the Scottish Athletics Commonwealth Games 2014 training squad, achieved second place in her debut race at the London Mini Marathon in 2012 and was awarded the title of British Junior Champion at the DSE Junior Championships last year.

"I'm very grateful to BSW Timber for the sponsorship they have provided, which will allow me to continue training and entering competitions in the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2016 Paralympic Games," said Ms Kinghorn.

"We're pleased to be able to support Samantha in her athletics career," said Alex Brownlie, director at BSW Timber.

"The opportunity to help local talent to strive to achieve national and international success is a good fit for BSW Timber, particularly with Sammi; she has overcome significant difficulties at a young age and her obvious talent and positive approach set a great example. We wish her the best of luck in the upcoming games."
