Burmese teak logs sales dip

10 December 2008

The amount of Burmese teak logs offered for sale during November dipped dramatically, according to the International Tropical Timber Organisation’s latest market report.

Logs offered by the Myanmar Timber Enterprise totalled just 1,274 tons, compared with 2,506 tons in August, 2,525 tons in September and 2,041 tons in October.

But the reduction has served to support price levels. Grade 1 sawing quality teak logs cost an average €2,379 during November, while the biggest quantity grade (Grade 4) fetched €1,860.
