BWF launches 2021 Awards

This year marks the 13^th anniversary of the annual Awards, and both companies and individuals are encouraged to enter. There are six categories to choose from, including Woodworking Project of the Year, Product Design in Wood and Rising Star of the Year.

“We’re delighted to be bringing the woodworking sector together once again to place a spotlight on the technical innovation, creativity and efficiency that make ours such an exciting field to work in,” said Helen Hewitt, chief executive.

“After what has been such a challenging time for so many of us, this is an important opportunity to unite once again as a sector and look forward to some well-deserved celebrations and socialising, which we have all missed so much over the last 16 months. I cannot think of a better platform to remind ourselves of the fantastic work and incredible people that push the boundaries of woodworking and joinery, as well as look to the future by recognising the stars and leaders of tomorrow.”

Entries for this year’s BWF Awards close at 17:00 on Friday September 10, 2021. Those shortlisted will receive a complimentary ticket to the BWF Awards Dinner on November 26, held at the Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel.

Businesses can nominate themselves or be nominated by a client or supplier. The categories for this year’s Awards, which are free to enter, are as follows:

Woodworking Project of the Year Award – Sponsored by W Exhibition & The FIT Show

• Recognises innovation and the very best in design, application and ability in joinery manufacture.
• The award will be judged against any of the following criteria: Craftmanship, Project Management and Excellence & Achievement.

Product Design in Wood Award – Sponsored by Teknos

• Recognising excellence in technical innovation, design and application in joinery product manufacture.
• The award will be judged against any of the following criteria: Innovation, Design and Excellence and Achievement.

Woodworking Apprentice of the Year Award – Sponsored by CITB

• Celebrates the achievements of woodworking apprentices.
• The award will be judged against any of the following criteria: Outstanding Achievement, Commitment, Adding Value and Personal Development.

Rising Star Award – Sponsored by Dixon International Group Ltd

• This category has been designed to recognise an individual whose dedication and hard work has made a real difference either to the organisation in which they work, or to the wider woodworking and joinery community.
• The award will be judged against any of the following criteria: Customer Service, Innovation, Team/ Community and Business Transformation.

Health & Safety Hero Award – Sponsored by Arnold Laver

• Acknowledges individual or collective effort which has made a notable difference to the health and safety practices and culture within a business.
• The award will be judged against any of the following criteria: A Focused Outcome, Commitment and Adding Value.

Process Efficiency Award – Sponsored by PIB Insurance Brokers

• Recognises the implementation of lean processes to maximise value for money, quality and speed of delivery.
• The award will be judged against any of the following criteria: Clear Thinking, Measurable Results, Commitments and Adding Value.
