Church joins Buttles as MD
19 June 2020Ian Church, who was formerly managing director of Snows Timber, has been appointed to the same role at independent builders’ merchant Buttle plc. He replaces Nick Sims, who is retiring after three years in the role.
Including his time at Snows Timber and with its former parent company the Bradfords Group, Mr Church has 35 years’ experience in merchanting, including at Travis Perkins.
“We are delighted to welcome Ian, whose experience will be invaluable as our business deals with the current Covid-19 emergency and looks to rebuild itself for a changed future,” said Peter Buttle, chairman.
“Nick was planning to retire last summer, but with the industry downturn, Brexit uncertainty, a general election, a poor start to this year and then the coronavirus to top it all, it’s not been easy to get the timing right. I am very grateful to have had him at the helm over the past three years and especially during this difficult period. I’m sure we all wish him well for the future.”
