Combilift looks forward to growth

6 April 2013

Combilift, the Irish manufacturer of the 4-way forklift, is celebrating 15 years in business this year on the back of ground-breaking developments in long load handling.

The company designed the world's first engine-powered all-wheel drive multi-directional forklift. The concept incorporated a truck that could change the direction of the wheels to move in any direction at the push of a button. More than 18,000 have been sold in 75 countries.

Managing director Martin McVicar, who established the company with Robert Moffett, said what was once seen as a niche solution for a few applications is now an industry standard.

He said the company strategy was to double turnover in the next five years. "We are seeing significant sales increases in regions we recently entered such as the Far East, Central and South America and demand in more traditional markets continues to remain very buoyant. We expect to produce in excess of 3,000 units in 2013."
