ConFor puts green case on YouTube

ConFor has produced a short film for YouTube highlighting the value of commercial forestry and the low-carbon businesses that depend on it.

The aim, said the organisation, was to explain that sustainably-managed forests and secure supplies of wood mitigate climage change and help the drive to a low carbon economy.

“Popular perceptions among policy makers and the public are often negative to cutting down trees and are skewed by a simplistic, ill-informed perspective of commerical forestry,” said ConFor chief executive Stuart Goodall.

He added that a Forestry Commission survey found only 28% of respondents in favour of timber production from UK forests.

The six-minute ConFor film stresses the importance of active forest management and was produced with funding from the APF International Forestry Exhibition. Besides YouTube, it can be seen at www.confor.org.uk.
