CPP employees go the distance for TTBS

31 May 2013

Becca Smith and Harriet Heardman of Coillte Panel Products have raised £2,800 for the Timber Trades' Benevolent Society (TTBS) by taking part in the ultra-distance London 2 Brighton Challenge.

The pair completed the 100km challenge in just 27 hours through a mixture of running and walking.

"It was great to be a part of such a good cause and raise the amount we did, especially when our original target was £1,000," said Ms Smith. "In fact, we even managed to exceed our second target of £2,500, which was a great achievement and so unexpected. Thinking about how much people had donated definitely helped us through the tough stages."

Ms Heardman said the all the training and hard work was well worth it. "This wouldn't have been possible without all the support and encouragement from our friends, family and colleagues. Thank you to everyone who sponsored us," she said.

TTBS national president Malcolm Cowley said the TTBS was extremely grateful for the donation.

"The TTBS relies heavily on donations and without the help of people like Becca and Harriet who have worked incredibly hard to achieve what they have and raise the amount they have, the work of the TTBS could not continue," he said.
