9 December 2008

James Donaldson & Sons Ltd has bought Palgrave Brown’s Chorley site, safeguarding 40 jobs at the business.

The deal sees James Donaldson acquire all land, buildings, machinery and stock at the site, which deals in products including MDF mouldings, I-joists and timber.

The site will in future trade as Alfred Hulme Ltd, the original name of the company when it started on the site around 1919.

“The Chorley site was rightly being sold as a going concern as it has good facilities, a skilled workforce and geographically is well positioned to help us grow strongly once the economic conditions improve,” said Neil Donaldson, chairman of James Donaldson.

He promised Palgrave Brown customers that they would receive the same service and have access to the same product range. “In 2009, our aim is to enhance this service by increasing the product range on offer.”
