Dover does well in Surrey

17 November 2004

The Dover Trussed Roof Company has designed, manufactured and supplied a series of 11 differing profiles of trussed rafters for a community housing project in Sutton, Surrey.

The complex roofscape of the 10 new flats features a double-curved profile. While the maximum span for the trusses was 7.5m, the inclusion of bay structures to the front of the property required the fabrication of a series of rectangular girder trusses to support incoming trusses over the bays and support the bay roofs.

Pairs of monopitch trusses that matched the adjacent full-span trusses were also necessary to support the roof either side of a stairway/lift core.

Dover Truss, a Trussed Rafter Association member, said it provided the most effective and quick solution to a number of logistical challenges.
