DTS invests in PV cells to support sustainability commitments

The Witney factory has installed 2,468 PV cells on the roof and in just over two months, the system has generated more than 116k kWh of energy. This equates to 115.9 tons of CO2 emissions savings, or 64 trees planted, strongly supporting the business’ environmental targets. In support of the surrounding community, 42,809 kWh of surplus energy has been exported back to the national grid for other businesses and homes to use.

This investment, part of a larger multimillion-pound project taking place at the factory, is also complemented by the installation of free electric vehicle charging points for staff and visitors.

“We have significant environmental ambitions at DTS, including a target of 100% green energy usage by 2030,” said Frank O’Reilly, manufacturing director at DTS. “Adding this 999.54 kWh system to our Witney factory is a huge step forward in meeting this goal. As part of a much larger infrastructure and capability investment at the factory, the surplus green energy we are creating also helps to offset this project. We are pleased with the energy we are producing so far and are looking forward to the carbon savings we will see over the coming months and years.”
